The last of my goals, and the one that I will be talking about the most, is a goal I created to live both a happier and a healthier life. This goal is to try a new recipe at least 2 times per month...AND share it with someone else. Preferably a human and not my dogs. They think whatever I do is awesome, so their opinion doesn't really count.
This goal is intended to help me grow as a person. I need to do something outside of my comfort zone, and I am just not the kind of person who will do things like skydiving or mountain climbing, or even skiing. So I figured that I had a repertoire of like 5 recipes I was comfortable with, and I was never that good at domestic type things, so this was a good way to put myself out there, force myself to try new things, and maybe develop some useful skills along the way. I put in the caveat that I had to share the finished product with someone else to really ensure that I am actually growing because of this goal. In a way, sharing this cooking experiment with another person is almost as personal as sharing my writing, and it takes a lot for me to do this.
This is another goal that I had created for myself "before", although back then, it was a new recipe every week. It was something I enjoyed and was kind of proud of doing. And this was another thing I put aside the day I was told Pete and I were getting a divorce, and it was another thing that I never restarted when I was with Dale because we were far too preoccupied with basic survival. Now that things are a little more settled in my life, this was one of the first things I decided to restart, although I am really only trying a new recipe 2x a month due to financial constraints. I've been working on this goal for several months now, and except for the walking goal, it is the goal I have been most successful with.
So, this goal is intended to help me live a happier life because I have to try new things, get out of my comfort zone, and share it with another person. I think it is doing that. Absolutely. It is also supposed to help me live a healthier life, because it ensures that I will eat a homecooked meal at least 2x a month. No argument, it is doing that as well. This is the goal I enjoy talking about the most, and except for walking and writing, it is the one I enjoy the most. Strangely, it is also the one people enjoy hearing about the most, so I plan to share some of the recipes I try and talk about the results, along with an update about some of the other goals and how they are going.
If anyone ever decides to follow this blog, thank you! And please share your thoughts and ideas.
